Guard Outlook From The Lonestar Top 100 Camp

Our Annual Lonestar Top 100 Camp is in the books. Had a multitude of potential division 1 prospects were on hand and we’ll be breaking down our performers by position. Our first edition we look at the backcourt players.

Mike Lenoir, 2020 PG – CYM: Attacking, downhill guard that was a threat in open court. Mike has made noticeable strides in his game. Will need to continue to improve playmaking skills.

Jourdyn Grandburry, 2022 CG – Richland Hills: Jourdyn is very talented and albeit needing to smooth some kinks out, Grandburry was an impact player this past weekend. High Motor, rebounds well for a guard and finished well vs length.

Finley Bizjack, 2023 CG – Byron Nelson: A natural scorer. Finley finds his way to the foul line, drawing contact on drives but he also did a good job knocking down open jumpers. Finley held his own against the older players.

Jaden Phillips, 2023 PG – Clark: Very young but showed flashes of what he can become in the future. Capable jump-shooter, defends using his length, Jaden’s development as a point guard will depend on what level of player he becomes.

Payton Chism, 2023 PG – Mt. Pleasant: As noted on my Twitter Page (Ani_Umana) we regard Chism as one of the toughest guards in his class. Embraces contact, will get physical amongst the bigs and battle for a defensive rebound, and he hit shots off the bounce.

Kasai Burton, 2022 PG – Sherman: Speedy, Downhill guard originally from Oklahoma. Kasai is effective in the open court as a passer & overall decision maker. Will keep track of him at Sherman this year, as we saw a glimpse of his playmaking capabilities.

Nic Romanelli, 2022 PG – Spring Creek: Nic is coming along. Handling pressure better and the game, in general, has slowed down for him. Romanelli was efficient shooting off the catch and setting up the offense.

Sean Calloway, 2022 CG – Brasewell: Sean showcased his reliability as a shooter. Makes shots from deep, handle is decent at this stage but is coming along. Should impact winning for Brasewell this year.

Deuce Gibson, 2023 2/1 CG – Faith Family: We believe he will figure it out in the upcoming years and one thing Gibson doesn’t lack is toughness & effort. Will be a guard that will contribute to winning basketball.

Autavious Hobbs, 2022 PG – Little Elm: Shifty guard that creates space off the bounce. Solid toughness, plays with pace and made some plays in pick & roll.

Other Notables

Nehemiah Weber, 2023 PG – Keller

Aiden Wall, 2023 PG – Keller
