Two of the San Antonio area’s top teams matched up to decide who would take the top spot in the city.
Antonian came in 13-1 , Judson 8-1.
Both teams figure to be in playoffs with solid prospects in the ‘21-23 classes .
Antonian led by St Ed’s signee Gavino Ramos got off to a good start. His ability to read the defense and change speeds to get his shot off or create for others is special . ‘22 Xavier Martinez and ‘21 Byron Armstrong were also big . Martinez showcased his IQ, and playmaking ability creating for himself and others. Cutting up the defense in ball screen and iso situations. With defenders focused so much on Ramos and Martinez ; ‘21 wing Bryon Armstrong capitalized showcasing his 3 ball range. Armstrong finished with 10 in the quarter, 26 for the game . Also in on the attack was ‘21 Freddie Amaro who was 1 of 5 Antonian players in double figures . For Judson they have a solid group of guards as well. ‘21 Isaiah Washington and ‘22 Anariss Brandon. Brandon finished with a game high 31. He was able to get it done multiple ways. Scored it from mid range, deep from 3 and at the rim. Made a strong case as one of the better prospects in the area. Along with Brandon was ‘21 Isaiah Washington and ‘23 Donovan Gomez who both can stretch the D with their range . They both knocked down some shots to get it close. Then Ramos and Martinez closed the game out. Pretty much scoring at will. Ramos finished the day with 23, Martinez 22.
